Guide
Honeycomb cardboard is the structural engineering of paper packaging. The hexagonal cell geometry distributes compressive loads with exceptional efficiency — providing 2 to 3 times the compressive strength of corrugated cardboard at the same weight.
For Indian businesses with EU export customers, sustainability requirements, or simply seeking a lighter alternative to foam corners: honeycomb is the technically superior choice for compressive load applications.
---
A regular hexagon distributes applied force equally across six walls — each wall sharing exactly one-sixth of the load and transmitting it to adjacent cells. This is why bees chose it and why engineers use it in aircraft floors, door panels, and packaging.
Compressive strength at equal weight: honeycomb core at 200 gsm provides 400 to 600 kg/cm2 — significantly higher than EPE foam (80 to 200 kg/cm2) at the same weight per unit area.
The tradeoff: foam absorbs impact energy through compression deformation. Honeycomb is stiffer and absorbs less kinetic energy from drops. For stacking load distribution: honeycomb is better. For drop cushioning: foam is better.

Honeycomb corner protectors are die-cut and formed honeycomb board folded to L or three-face corner profiles. Used on the eight corners of palletised loads, they provide:
High stacking strength: 400 to 600 kg per corner — suitable for multi-pallet stacking in warehouse and container operations.
100% recyclable: No material separation required — goes directly into corrugated recycling stream.
EU export compliance: Meets EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive recyclability requirements.
Lightweight: 15 to 25 percent lighter than equivalent foam corners — reduces pallet tare weight and shipping cost.

Honeycomb kraft paper is die-cut flat kraft that expands when pulled from the roll into a 3D hexagonal cushioning structure. The expanded material provides 20 to 30mm of effective cushioning depth — comparable to two layers of standard bubble wrap.
Application: Pull the required length from the roll, wrap around the product, and the honeycomb structure provides cushioning without any additional fixation. The cell geometry maintains cushioning depth under compression.
100% recyclable. Zero plastic. Customer perception: premium, eco-conscious.

Honeycomb corner protectors vs EPE foam corners: Similar cost per set at equivalent load capacity. At equal weight, honeycomb provides higher compressive strength — meaning thinner (cheaper) honeycomb achieves the same stacking protection as thicker (more expensive) foam.
For EU export packaging where recyclability documentation is required: honeycomb's zero-preparation recyclability eliminates the compliance cost associated with foam separation.

For compressive loads (from pallet stacking): honeycomb is 2 to 3 times stronger than equivalent foam. For drop impact absorption: foam deforms and absorbs energy better. Use honeycomb for stacking-dominated applications; use foam for drop-dominated applications.
Yes. Honeycomb cardboard is 100% paper-based and recyclable in all EU corrugated cardboard recycling streams. It complies with EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive requirements with no additional certification needed. It is actively preferred by EU retailers and importers with packaging sustainability commitments.
For stacking, void fill (honeycomb wrap), and corner compression applications: honeycomb is a direct replacement. For fragile goods requiring maximum drop cushioning (ceramics, precision instruments, thin glass): EPE foam sheet still provides better impact absorption performance than honeycomb.
