Do NOT clean bearings before storage — the factory grease provides the first corrosion protection layer; removing it increases corrosion risk.
VCI compounds formulated for ferrous metals are effective on aluminium as well, but check the VCI formulation specification. Some VCI formulations may cause slight staining on anodised aluminium surfaces. For mixed-metal spare part storage: specify multi-metal VCI formulation that protects both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
